Hello music fans, students and teachers of San Diego South Chapter! We hope your summer is a blast so far!

Please take note of our upcoming activities and programs this fall. We look forward to these exciting events that will surely inspire you to play more and learn new music materials!

EVENTS THIS FALL 2019 

October 20, Saturday, 1 pm: MTNA Studio Festival and Young Artists Competition (Piano Division)
Venue: Carmel Valley Branch Library, Community Room. 3919 Townsgate Drive, San Diego, CA 92130.
This day will host two events: competitive (YAC) and non-competitive divisions (MTNA Studio Festival). Performers will receive comments, medals, and certificates.
October 26, Saturday, 1:30 pm. Young Artists Competition (String Division, other instruments) and Concerto Competition. Designed for highly-motivated students, performers compete by instrument and abilities. First place winners will be invited to perform in the Honors Recital and Gala 2020.
Venue: Scripps Ranch Miramar Branch Library Community Room, 10301 Scripps Lake Dr., San Diego, CA 92131.

November 24, Sunday, 1 pm. CAPMT Piano Auditions and Ensemble Auditions. Venue: Greene Music Recital Hall, 7480 Miramar Rd, San Diego, 92126. Students who obtain a grade of “5” at the chapter and district level will be invited to perform at the Southern CA Festival. Welcome New Members: Magdolna Bornemisza and Timothy Broadway!

Magdolna Bornemisza is a well-known music teacher in the San Diego area and is an experienced performer as a soloist and collaborative pianist, a church musician and choir leader. She also was a board member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California and served on the Executive Board of The Musical Merit Foundation of Greater San Diego. Tim Broadway is a sought-after piano teacher, performer and adjudicator in San Diego and is a respected and long-time member of CAPMT and MTAC.

Hats off to all teachers and students who participated and volunteered in the 2019 Honors Recital and Gala held last June 8, 2019! We made it through 2018-2019 and we finished with a bang!
